Home/Owners with ties to more than one country
Financial guidance for owners with ties to more than one country.
A business owner whose life spans two countries carries two tax systems, two sets of advisors, and assets that each side treats differently. The pieces are rarely coordinated, and the gaps show up at tax time, at a sale, or when the family moves.
Trivium works with owners who are relocating to the U.S., and with owners abroad who want part of their wealth held in the U.S. Many of these clients have ties to Mexico. The planning is the same for an owner from anywhere, and we coordinate with your legal and tax advisors in both countries.
Trivium does not give legal, tax, or immigration advice in any country. Trivium does not make loans or hold deposits.
At a glance.
Who it's for
Owners moving to the U.S. who hold a business or assets abroad, and owners who live abroad and want part of their wealth held in the U.S.
What we do
- Plan cash, investments, retirement, and protection across both countries
- Coordinate with your attorney and CPA on each side
- Introduce you to a banker if you need a U.S. banking relationship
What we don't do
We don't give legal, tax, or immigration advice in any country. We don't hold deposits or make loans.
How it works.
We learn where your business, your assets, and your residency sit today, and what you want the U.S. side to do.
We review what is available to you and what each choice changes, with your legal and tax advisors in both countries.
We build the plan for U.S. accounts, investments, retirement savings, and coverage, and introduce you to a banker if you need one.
We review as your residency, business, and family situation change.
Common questions.
Plain answers. Bracketed items are awaiting Arkadios Compliance.
- Can a non-U.S. citizen invest in the U.S.?
- Many do. What is available depends on residency, tax status, and the type of investment. We review the options with you and coordinate with your legal and tax advisors.
- Can Trivium help me open U.S. bank accounts?
- We don't hold deposits. We can introduce you to banks that work with international clients, and we help you prepare what they will ask for.
- Do I need a U.S. address or a U.S. entity to invest?
- It depends on the account type and the investment. We walk through the options with you, and your attorney advises on structure.
- Will you work with my advisors in my home country?
- Yes. We coordinate with the advisors you already use, in the U.S. and at home.
- Does moving to the U.S. change how my investments are taxed?
- It can. Your tax advisor explains how it applies to you, and we plan around their guidance.
- Do you work in Spanish?
- Yes. We work in English and Spanish.
